Things you can do with figs

Fig trees grow all around me in West Philly, and they’re fruiting! It’s fucking fig season! I love eating fig on its own, but it can get old after a while, so I started cooking and putting it in a bunch of other things.

A whole lot of freshly picked figs that I just washed in a strainer

Labaneh and figs on toast

One of the recipes that my friends told me to try was labaneh with figs on toast. I unfortunately didn’t have labaneh at home so I tried it with cream cheese and it was still good. Definitely would be better with labaneh, though!

Fig jam

Making fig jam takes a lot of time, but the result was delicious! I loved giving this out to friends too. I was surprised that the recipe called for balsamic vinegar and lemon juice. I was skeptical at first, but it added a really nice tang to it.

Fig scones

You know the best way to eat fig jam? With fig scones, of course! If you have any figs left, you can make wonderful scones out of them. Add a little bit of pecan in there as well to add some contrasting textures.
